By Federico Fellini nowadays

On the morning of October 30th 1943, Federico Fellini and Giulietta Masina walked out of Residence Prati to go and get married. Even if the country was at war, Residence Prati was filled with artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. They were looking for modern, bright, and comfortable spaces. Residence Prati provided the ideal location for this new creative and industrious generation.

The project for Residence Prati was created in 1938 from the vision of engineer Giulio Landi who, coming back from a work experience in France, wanted to recreate in a Rome the studiò model for artists.

The work was entrusted to the architect Luigi Piccinato, one of the greatest exponents of the rationalist movement, whose genius was expressed in Italy and abroad. His greatest achievements are world renown Teatro Eliseo on Via Nazionale in Rome, the train station in Naples, the Stadio Adriatico in Pescara, and numerous residential and office centers.

Piccinato conceived the twin buildings of Via Nicotera as something that would stand out from all other residential structures built in Rome. Thus, Residence Prati was born, in the heart of the neighborhood delle Vittorie and a short walk from the historical city center. Its two twin buildings with four floors, connected by an open staircase were, and still are, a true gem of that era. An environment that is shaped by a vision and a need for freedom that anticipates the Italian economic miracle. “A fun place” as Giulio Landi liked to call it. This is how it was lived by the influential generation of artists of the period of the Dolce Vita. A great history, that still resound within the walls of the two buildings.

The hotel never stops modernising under the management of siblings Giancarla and Giuseppe, following in the footsteps of their engineer father, Sig. Landi. In 2018, solar panels are being installed onto the roofs of the buildings, in order to generate clean energy, covering around 40% of the hotel’s requirements, thus reducing the environmental impact of the business. The Residence Prati is today the first “green” hotel in Rome.

The suites, after over seventy years of being built, still feature a futuristic concept of space. Spacious studios with kitchenette, bathroom, windows and balconies with views of one of the most quiet and elegant areas in Prati. The rooms are used by professionals or tourists looking for a peaceful place in Rome where they can find a home away from home.

Our valued guests further benefit from the 24/7 reception that is able to support any guest demand. From booking restaurants, dry cleaning, fax, and contacting the relevant travel agencies. The suites are cleaned daily, with linen changed weekly or as requested.

The suites benefit from a living space structured as a loft, which is equipped with a living area that includes stoves, fridge, and a large table all efficiently separated from the sleeping area. Additional benefits to the room are air conditioning, Satellite tv, telephone, and free Wi-Fi.

For all these reasons the studiò-apartments can meet the needs of families, practitioners, and travelers of all kinds. Residence Prati is ready to welcome anyone who wants to experience Rome and feel like at home.
